Last year for Christmas, my mom gave me and Jack a gift card to a hotel chain in hopes that we could getaway without our kiddos. Two minutes later, we told her that we'd accepted Abbey's file and we'd be leaving for China in two months. Needless to say, our kid free trip never happened and likely won't happen for quite some time. So, we decided to use the gift card at The Homestead in Hot Springs, VA and bring the kiddos with us to enjoy their pools, beautiful property and cool weather! It was such a fun way to finish out the summer!
Somehow The Homestead was both fancy and kid friendly. We only ate one meal at the resort restaurants ( too expensive and too quiet for our crazy crew)but the pools, lazy river and water slides were perfect for our children's age ranges. Jack called the trip "ambitious" for us and he was right - it was certainly a little chaotic trying to keep up with all our kiddos spread across all the water options and every time we walked through the halls of the hotel it felt like one big pinball game. But being able to be outside without melting in sweat was such a wonderful change of pace for us and the grounds were just phenomenal. All in all, a fun and memorable trip for our family!
all our kiddos got a kid pack full of fun goodies at check in
four lazy river first timers!
Not at all surprising - Caroline and Will never wanted to leave while Chase and Abbey were much more cautious and preferred water without a current;-)
my littles couldn't get enough of the sand pit
Since Abbey is still pretty nervous in crowds, we swam early in the morning and during dinner time so we had the pool almost to ourselves the whole time we were there.
We hit the playground while the pools were crowded and had it to ourselves both times as well!
a little family bowling before we had to leave.
